Mumbai Set to Open Three Major Bridges in Sion, Vidyavihar and Goregaon Tomorrow
Mumbai will open three major bridges in Sion, Vidyavihar and Goregaon tomorrow. Find out how the rebuilt Sion railway overbridge and two new flyovers are expected to improve connectivity and ease peak-hour traffic.
The inauguration will be conducted virtually by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar present.
The rebuilt Sion railway overbridge replaces a 112-year-old structure that had been declared unsafe. Its opening marks a key development in efforts to improve connectivity in the area.
At Vidyavihar, the 650-metre flyover is designed to link the eastern and western sides, providing another connection across the railway corridor. The project is expected to help commuters travelling between the two sides.
The third project is a 1.26-km flyover at Goregaon's Ratnagiri Hotel junction. Its opening is expected to ease traffic bottlenecks and improve movement through the junction.
The three bridges are expected to provide relief to commuters during peak hours and make suburb-to-suburb travel more convenient. Their inauguration follows sustained civic efforts to improve Mumbai's transport infrastructure and address persistent traffic congestion.
